A small word about amendments.

It seems that, as far as Teabaggers/Kochsuckers are concerned, the Second Amendment was put forth by the Jesus-appointed Founding Fathers. It is to be unaltered and never questioned. Everyone can carry anything they want.
However, with their desire to blur the line between church and state and to out-shout anyone who doesn't agree with them, the First Amendment was just some silly notion created by a bunch of dope-smoking, orgy-having commie hippies in Hollywood to undermine our traditional values.

Another talking point they like to bring up is the belief that no amendment was ever scrutinized just because the related technology changed. This is far from true. As information technology advanced, Supreme Court cases heavily scrutinized 1A in regards to the internet and intellectual property and libel, as well as examined 4A in relation to surveillance equipment.
Likewise, as gun technology advanced, people understood that more advanced weaponry was for military use only, and they understood that 2A applied to civilian weapons. When the Gatling gun was invented, for instance, 2A advocates at the time didn't rush out to get one. They understood that it was a military weapon, and not a civilian weapon.

If the Tea Party gets their way, we'd have a bunch of uneducated, superstitious people running around, carrying heavier and heavier artillery, on a world where everything is controlled by a handful of crooked corporations. We wouldn't have America. We wouldn't even have any nation as we know it. We'd have a real-life version of the game "Borderlands."
