The real fascism in America.

     I can't stand how, every time Obama does something, the Koch-sucking Teabaggers scream about a fascist communist conspiracy. "Obama's appointing cabinet members that I didn't vote for! Hitler did that, too!" They whine about fascism when they don't know the first thing about it. No one's going to take over America by force because it's already been taken over by a select few industrialists who have used their ill-gotten gains to corner the media, labor, and legislature. I've studied history, and I'd like to offer my own take on how America is repeating history.
     We are repeating history in our domestic policy, of course. This is where fascism comes in. This is more along the lines of Mussolinian fascism, as it is the "merger of state and corporate power." Media is in the hands of a few mogols, so public opinion is engineered. Labor is suppressed by corporations who hire lobbyists to keep things the way they are. Government is bought by the few. Progressive legislation is mired in spin and obstructionism, and nothing gets done for the people anymore.
     In our foreign policy, we are still getting inspiration from the same geographical area, but further back in history. We are following the path of ancient Rome. For nearly a century, the western hemisphere has been under the American hegemony, and America has been spending the last 70 years branching out into the rest of the world. Any nation or state that has views that are not completely in line with the Empire's is an enemy of the Empire. They will be painted as a rogue state with unscrupulous leaders, and they run the risk of being "democratized."
     However, in the case that Americans begin to point this out, corporate domestic policy kicks in. A media, ever ready to distract and delude, will sell them on ideas and products and images that will keep would-be free-thinkers in line. It's efficient, if you think about it; it's insidiously efficient.
